The West Bank is a piece of land in the Middle East.

It is inhabited by Palestinians and Israeli settlers.

It is divided in three (scattered) zones, the A zone is under Palestinian rule, the B and C zones under Israeli rule. Jewish Israelis are not allowed to go into A zones (and it is not considered safe or at least wise). Palestinians living in A and B zones need a special permit to visit C zones (e.g. the East of Jerusalem).

Infrastructure in Arabic towns is usually not very advanced.

Transport

There are Arabic buses going from Jerusalem's Damascus gate to many Arabic places in the West Bank.

Even though ill advised, hitchhiking is a common means of transport for settlers. For this reason Arabs tend to not give you rides or they might even do unfriendly things to you.

Checkpoints

When leaving and entering A zones you have to cross checkpoints run by the Israeli army. It's a good idea to carry your passport (though GuakaTalkCS forgot his when going to Jericho and all was fine).

It seems a bit unclear if checkpoints close at night or not.

Sometimes it's easier to pass checkpoints by bike.
