Talk:Stranded Travelers
The CouchSurfing Wiki, an informal workspace which anyone can edit.
I struggled for ages just to leave a message for a couch surfer i'm hosting while the couchsurfing site is down. Where you have the option to log in- it says logging in is not necessary. This is just a note to people who think the same as i do- that you can edit a page without having to log in: I HAD to log in before i could see the edit button. Hopefully somebody else who knows what they are doing on this page can clarify it for users like me who thought i was going nuts cause i couldn't see an edit button!! (Or maybe I'm just stupid?)Also I have NO idea whether this IS just me, but my normal log in for couchsurfers wouldn't work. (My cookies ARE enabled) I had to create a new account. --SKWURREL 04:48, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
What are the thoughts about adding links to alternative networks directly to the page rather than to a site talking about the numerous sites? Some potential sites:
Bewelcome
GlobalFreeLoaders
HospitalityClub
Stay4Free

there are alot of hospitality exchange websites and considering that that isn't what this page is about. I think we should put as little as possible about other sites on this page. The hospitality guide site has all kind of info on hospitality exchange networks and a simple link doesn't distract from the rest of the content. This is probably the most important page on the wiki but alot of people that use it are seeing it for the first time so ease of use is the most important thing so getting involved in other subjects is a real distraction. That's what I think.--Metal.lunchboxTalkCS 18:17, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
Agreed. And Excepting HC, those sites have practically no membership base and just aren't as helpful as CS and HC. I mean, 2000 members in one site? Come on. The HC information is there merely to provide accelerated sign-up. Since, like CS, it is quite large ( though no longer as big! ) new signups can take some days to be processed by local volunteers in some areas. That information allows stranded travellers to be fast-tracked by the CS Ambassador Toniwalia. Many people have both CS and HC profiles, and this really improves their chances of hooking up with their lost host/guest.--Babso 19:58, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
This page is Very important! How about putting links to every CS country AMB on it? If we dont want to expose their real Email Addresses, they can each create a phantom adress, (at Gmail for example), which can forward the mails to them. --Ramnon 02:39, 31 October 2008 (EDT)
- I suggest adding a link to other HospEx Pages too (e.g. www.hospitalityguide.net). Just add some transparency, that gives you more creditability too. --Alex 05:11, 3 November 2008 (EST)
Split into sections
I think it would be better if we split this page into one page per country instead of this large page (42K, and more than 500 lines of wiki code!). --IvanS 14:02, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
