Leaning tower of Pisa

Pisa is a city in Tuscany, Italy, with a population of some 90,000 people. It is famous worldwide for the Leaning Tower of Pisa (in Italian: La torre di Pisa). It is also home of a big university, compared to the size of the city: more than half of the population in Pisa are students at the University.

CouchSurfing in Pisa

There are a lot of students in Pisa, so it should not be difficult to find a place to stay for people aged 18-25. You will most probably stay in a student house (a flat shared by 3-4 people).

The Pisa CS group organize events about once in a month, so check it out. All members from Pisa and travellers passing by are welcome to join the group.

CouchSurfing adivice

Pisa is not a big city. If you find a place to stay in the center (inside the ancient city walls) you can reach any place in the center (including the train station and the Leaning Tower) walking in just a few minutes.

The are some periferical neighborhood (like I Passi, San Giusto, Ghezzano, Barbaricina, CEP, Cisanello, Putignano, Ospedaletto) where you need a bike or a public bus to get to the center, but still are served by the city bus service (including LAM, running at night).

Other options are staying in a small town near Pisa (in a radius of 15km), they are served by public transport (bus or train). These town includes Badia, Riglione, Calci, San Giuliano, Asciano, Visignano, Titignano, Colignola, Madonna dell'Acqua, Campo, Navacchio and up to Cascina (15 minutes by train).

If you don't find a place to stay in the towns, or you prefer staying in a city but you don't find a place in Pisa, Livorno and Lucca are two cities only 25km away from Pisa (15 minutes by train, for less than 4,00 Euro).
