CouchSurfing in Kitchener-Waterloo

K-W has an unusually large number of high-quality hosts, renowned for their friendliness and their knowledge of how to have a good time. This, along with the area's location near Toronto, makes it an ideal couchsurfing location. Visiting K-W is also a good way to experience life in a mid-sized city outside of the larger Canadian urban centres. Due to the relatively high couchsurfing vacancy rate it's always easy to find a place to stay, even at the last minute.

Transport

By train: Via Rail provides service on the to/from Toronto, Guelph, London, Sarnia, and many other cities on the "Quebec City-Winsor" line. Travel between Toronto and Kitchener takes approximately one and a half hours. Seats are plush and legroom is extensive.

Service is less expensive than train but may take longer depending on traffic. Within Kitchener-Waterloo and Cambridge, Grand River Transit provides local bus service, with an 'iXpress' interurban service between the three cities.

By air: NorthWest Airlines offers three flights a day to/from Detroit via Region of Waterloo International Airport. Otherwise, the main airport is Toronto's Pearson International, with Airways Transit providing local ground service to and from Pearson.
