Couchsurfing Community

Istanbul as of August 2009 has 11,460 Couchsurfers, which makes it not only the biggest community in Turkey, but also the 5th largest on the planet. There are weekly meetings announced here. Additional meetings are announced in the Meetings Subgroup. There is also a Google Calendar.

Nightlife

Cambaz a Turkish Taverna place to eat, drink, listen old Turkish music, dance Turkish style

Regular meetings

Book and movie club : On Tuesday, we meet to exchange book and movies.

Regular meetings : A week in Asia, a week in Europe, that's how Istanbul CSer met every wedneday evening, places can change so take a look at the event page. Info are comming on mondays or tuesdays.

Mesa de espanol : For those who want speak, learn or teach spanish, we meet every thursday at 7pm. Check the associated group for more informations.

Language Exchange Meeting : Want to learn languages or teach one ? Come here, it takes place every saturday at 6pm. Check the event page for more informations.

Tavla tournament : One time a month we have a big fight to design the best tavla player of CS Istanbul.

Tips

Many cafe's have free wi-fi internet spots, for example I think all Burger Kings have. Also some cafeteriass do as well, check them for an announcement (generally in Turkish) mentioning the word wireless or internet! Also Taksim- Beyoglu street and Bogazici university North Campus(especially around Library) and South Campus (around the big garden) have free wireless. Also u can receive unencrypted wireless signals from houses around, give a try ;)
