Everett

Cascade Mountains
The Cascade mountains are an hour-something away and have incredible skiing/snowboarding options with great snow and terrain. Also, hikes galore!
Neighboring Islands
Whidbey, Camano, the San Jauns.
Jetty Island is a long man-made island at the mouth of the Snohomish River. A draw to locals is it's shallow, sandy beaches. It is accessible only by private boat or by the island's free ferry that runs continually from July to September. Parking is also free, at Everett's 10th Street Boat Launch off of West Marine View Drive. Bring a snack, sunscreen and a sun umbrella as there may be waits for return ferries.
Parks
Lots of nice parks. The theme for Seattle/Everett region is small and big parks, obtrusive and hidden parks, plain and 'toyed' parks all waiting to be discovered.
Biking
The Interurban Trail runs from Arlington, thorough Seattle to Auburn. With breaks to navigate through occasional city streets (Everett, Seattle), most of the trail is private, wide and paved with signs pointing riders in the right direction for over 40 miles.
The Centennial Trail runs from Snohomish to Arlington by a private and paved road for 17 miles.
Food, Entertainment, Nightlife
Symphony, sports teams, live music, good eats, dive-bars and karaoke joints. Local vineyards and breweries.

There are Farmers Markets in Snohomish (Thursdays 3-7:30), Lake Stevens (Thursdays 5-sunset), Mukilteo (Wednesdays 3-7) and Edmonds (Saturdays 9-2).
