Winnipeg
Winnipeg is the capital city of the province of Manitoba, Canada. The largest city in Manitoba, it is at the centre of North America with a metropolitan population of approximately 700,000.
Climate
Winnipeg's climate varies greatly throughout the year. For current weather conditions in Winnipeg, visit Environment Canada's Winnipeg Weather Page. Winnipeg's winter can be quite long and harsh. It can last from October through until April, although recent years have seen serious winter conditions last only from November through late March.
During the winter period, temperatures below -40C can be experienced, so it is extremely important to be prepared if travelling to Winnipeg during this time. Warm clothing is essential when spending any time outside. Exposed skin will freeze quickly, so be sure to cover up. Multiple layers of clothing are recommended, including thermal undergarments, a warm "regular" layer, and an outer layer of wind and water resistant fabric. Don't forget a toque (beanie, winter hat, etc.) mittens/gloves and insulated boots with good grip.
In the summer, Winnipeg temperatures can range anywhere from 20C to 35C and sometimes even hotter. Winnipeg summers are known for their abundant sunshine, wide array of festivals and vibrant outdoor patios.
Meetings
The Winnipeg CS group meets at various locations around the city. Take a look at the Winnipeg CS Group to see what's coming up.
