heh, all good. our tension is high right now. I added "being very close to the leader of CouchSurfing with 400k+ members." to the end, to ensure complete disambiguation. ok? :)

ah it's all good. i just get uppity when perceived threats are made :) i think it's good like that. thanks for the discussion!

-- I'm glad you see keeping that info there is important. Links can certainly move below the imporant information.

But i still find it misleading to link to a site with such a small membership; it is not really going to help stranded travellers who are used to the size of the likes of HC and CS. But if you insist on putting the link, then wouldn't it be fair to also link to the other sites that have far larger membership bases?

Global Freeloaders, Servas, Place2Stay, Stay4Free, the list goes one.

I just felt that with those sites being either new, very small, or both, it was more helpful to provide a link to hospitalityguide.org where they are listed, rather than cluttering up the page and possibly misleading users by directing them to a site which really isn't able to help them.

Cheers --

As i said to you in email: the link is insufficient. Toniwalia is a CS ambassador, and is also on the HC Signup team. His text provides instructions for stranded travellers to get fasttracked through the sign-up process.

As for the link to a site with just 2000 members. I have provided instead a link to hospitalityguilde.net which lists many sites.Don't you think that is better? To provide many small alternatives, rather than promoting first one site with practically no members? I think it's quite misleading of you to put that site as a first link, given hc and CS have between 300 and 400 thousand members each  :) C'mon. We're helping stranded travellers here, not promoting our preferred networks. Given you are associated with opencouchsurfing.org who favours bewelcome, i find your self-promoting in users' time of trouble quite sad and that you are hardly presenting an unbiased view.

If you wish to censor stuff you don't like, then that will be dealt with through the management of both HC and CS.

-- Great work on Nashville! I just changed a couple of little things. Thanks a lot! Did you know you can sign messages (mostly used on talk pages, like this one) with ~~~~~. Bye, 12:28, 28 September 2006 (EST)
