Trieste is situated at the extreme north of the Adriatic sea, where continental Europe ends and the Meditarranean begins.
It is located in a strategic position: in the center of a new Europe. On the border with Slovenia, close to Croatia, Austria, and Venice.
In the center of an area that joins Milan, Vienna, Budapest, Bratislava and Munich, reachable in a short time by car. A city on the sea and not far from the Alpes and central europe.
Trieste has always been a multicultural city, the cultural and economic intermediary where for centuries people of different religious faiths, cultures, languages and economic activities have flourished side by side.
The queen city of the Hapsburg Dynasty along with Vienna.
The Italian hub of the great insurance groups: Generali Insurance, Lloyd Adriatico, RAS were all founded in Trieste.
International science pole d’excellence, where the percentage of researchers per capita is the highest in Italy and where investments in research are higher than the European average.
Thanks to its position, it is an important center of services, production and logistics.
In spite of its economic vitality and cosmopolitan feel, Trieste is a truly livable city: it has the highest quality of life in Italy (Sole 24 Ore December 2005).
Its infrastructure, services, lifestyle, health, air quality and free time, dynamic economy and opportunities: these are what put Trieste in First place.
The city was able to develop its economy without the degradation that characterizes other industrial centers and conserve its central european cultural flavor thanks to its cultural institutions (5 theaters of national importance, museums, libraries, historical cafès).
The location of the city, between the sea and the Carso higher plane, just a few kilometers from the Alps, make it perfect place to spend your free time playing sports, sailing, diving, mountain biking, trekking, mountain climbing or skiing or taking a simple walk in the woods, all just a few minutes from the city center.
