Priorities
- Function in Preferences for members to select a default language version of the website [1]
- Debugging of the new, unfinished translation tool - improving its engine performance (very poor at the moment) & basic accessorizing (essential for translators to work):
- Automatic rebuilt (includes new pages and pages we (ninjas) can't see, removes pages that are no longer on site)
- Efficient locking of translated fragments and pages
- Search feature to recover an original English fragment from a translated one.
- Timestamped fragment history
- Recover Statistic for mods (in the tool) and ninjas
- About Translators: how many fragments they TRANSLATED (do not include confirmations) in the last month, in total, date of the last translation (IN EACH LANGUAGE SEPARATELY)
- About Languages: how many fragments are done - Relative progress ( % of total website), how many pages are completed - relative progress (% of total pages on the website), +- % variation in the last 30 days (in red, for both parameters)
- Make all the website translatable - some very important parts are not translatable yet! These lists change without warning or follow-ups from tech team to us.
- Tips pages, MDST FAQ, a list is already in Mantis: [2]
- Contact Us (contact.html) and the dynamic FAQs associated with it
- News Channels
- ANY NEW CONTENTS published the same way on the website!
- Get Stats about the use of the translated version of the website [3]
More details...
- History: See previous translations (at least the last 2 or 3) displayed in the translating tool main view without having to click on a link. [4]. After second thought, maybe link or button would be preferable, to no overpopulate the page; combobox showing date_time and translation_author, orderer by date_time DESC, could be used to browser the history--Dan° 16:26, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
- Expression search: tool for searching a certain fragment, showing links to the proper pages as result. Tips: should work not only for English, but also for the target language; links should filter pages, showing only the searched fragments--Dan° 16:26, 5 March 2009 (UTC) [5]

- NEW TOOL
- In the summary page, add a filter to show "only fragments confirmable by the user", "only fragments to be translated", "only fragments to be confirmed", "all fragments".--Dan° 16:26, 5 March 2009 (UTC) ---> Appeared in the new tool <--- NOT true (besides, it would be nice to see signatures of people editing the page...): it is not yet possible to filter fragments confirmable by the user - I still see all the fragments confirmable, including the ones I edited and hence not confirmable by me --Dan° 13:55, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
- Chance for moderators to lock fragments, provided they have been translated and confirmed before; once locked, fragments cannot be changed, unless a moderator unlock them. Tips: a boolean field in the database should do; simple icon to show lock state; if all fragments in a page are locked, then a lock icon also show up for the whole page--Dan° 15:20, 5 March 2009 (UTC) [15] [16]
- For a first translation, make the translation "to be confirmed" appear on the site anyway, while the confirmed one shall be locked. To challenge a confirmed translation one would post about it in their language sub-group. Reason: better to have a poor translation than none !
- Access to the translation tool via language-specific group ---> And the Tool Users Group
- Finalize characters bug fixing and figuring out if there are any bugs with chinese translation again
Wishes abandonned
- Tackle multilingual profiles --> Replaced by on demand automatic translation
- In the summary page, differentiate parts that can be confirmed by the user from parts that are to be confirmed by someone else (because they have beeb translated by the user). Tips: it could save a lot of time, avoiding useless opening of pages; differentiation could be graphical, maybe just using html tags--Dan° 12:36, 2 March 2009 (UTC) ---> Irrelevant in the new tool
- When a language goes below 100% of translation, having reached it before, send a warning message to the moderators for that language (maybe using a flag in the database, to be sure that the warning is sent only once, and that it is reset when 100% is reached again)--Dan° 12:36, 2 March 2009 (UTC) -----> Substituted by: Write the % of language completed in the language one translates on the Volunteer Dashboard
- Tool to flag priorities on pages to be translated [17] [18] --perilisk 16:08, 6 March 2009 (UTC) -----> Substituted by the Standard Translation Priorites spreadsheet
- Ability to translate contents which are on the wiki instead of being cutted in fragments through translation CS tool. (In fact, tool to find where wiki contents are). Related to the fact that we can't translate some pages on the website [19]--Perilisk 13:13, 21 September 2008 (EDT)Now reported in Mantis [20]--perilisk 20:37, 24 October 2008 (EDT) The more it goes, the more we think of this as a priority [21]. ----> Contents on the wiki will be migrated within the site and we have to ensure that new contents is translatable
- Get a chance to translate parts of the pages that are actually not accessible through the overview page (e.g.: [22], title "My groups" and description "This page shows you a list of all of the groups you are part of. You can create new groups or edit groups that you are the moderator of" are not available for translation)--Dan° 12:36, 2 March 2009 (UTC) ----> Part of a wider problem, now in priorities
