Trakai

Trakai is situated about 25 km from Vilnius center and in the middle of five lakes. It is one of the most poular places because it is beautiful and quiet. But in summer time you will find it very noisy because of teh large tourist crowds that stumble through it. So it might be better to visit Trakai in mid-autumn/fall or in spring (April/May) ,if you do not like the noise. Trakai is an ideal place for water tourism. You can rent a yacht and have a pleasant trip to see all the beautiful places from a frog's perspective. Trakai is the centre of a national historical park, whose main goal it is to preserve the unique landscape.
The most famous and most beautiful place is an castle which is on an island in one of the five lakes, being unique in all of Europe!
Where to eat
Klajunas' favourite place to eat is KYBYNLAR restaurant, where one can enjoy real, tasty Karaites food. He says: "I recommend that place if you want enjoy original and historical meals!"

But if you happen to come in autumn or winter time, he recommends another place to rest and enjoy hot chocolate or coffee: It is “Šokolado Sostinė” (chocolate capital). " It is an expensive plase, but is worth to go and enjoy the hand-made sweets."

Accomodation besides CS
There are not that many Couchsurfers yet, as we are working on that. But if you want stay and spend one or more days in the city, accomondation is available. You can find a place that cost starting from 54 Litas. If you want it more expensive and chique the prices can be chique as well, up to 220 Litas.
