Talk:Mini Collective

I've had the term CS Code Camp bubbling in my head for quite some time :) Recently had what could be called mini-collective, happening at a member's home, focusing CS structure & philosophy & knowledge dissemination more than concrete projects. Anu 23:28, 21 December 2006 (EST)

An Idea

A while back Anu and I discussed the possibility of a mini collective. These would be separate from the main collectives, they would be more project focused, and they would include a select group of people who previously agree to a set of guidelines collectively created to run the collective.

A few guidelines

  1. The 33% guideline - We would work 33% on CouchSurfing, 33% for the community that we were living in/around, and spend 33% relaxing and enjoying our community.
  2. Funding - Funding would be an initial investment into the location by the members but the 33% work for the local community would provide the income for food and housing and leisure.

That's all I've come up with so far. --EmoriginalTalkCS 10:48, 28 February 2007 (EST)

Tools?

DanteCS( we? ) dreams of online TOOLS TO DEVELOP and MULTIPLY THE IDEA OF MINI COLLECTIVES

Maybe we could imagine that individuals could fill up specific details on their profile?

or develop some tools similar to volunteer sign up ( SEE LINKS AT END OF MESSAGE ) , to collect and share info about interested mini collective hosts , mini collective entrepreneurs , and other tools for cooperation between mini collectives and for setting up mini collectives.

I imagine such a tool could be combined with volunteer search tools , couchsurfing university tools , ...

IF INTERESTED MINI COLLECTIVE HOSTS OR INITIATORS COULD ADVERTISE THEIR INITIATIVE ON SUCH A DATABASE ; FILL IN A MINI COLLECTIVE PROFILE WITH WHAT VENUE THEY OFFER ; FOR HOW MANY PEOPLE ; AND WHAT THE TOPIC/FOCUS/INTENTION OF THE MINI COLLECTIVE THEY INITIATE OR HOST IS , interested volunteers could meet up in these temporary venues to work on projects.

Such a tool could also be used for one aspect of the Couchsurfing University.

Direct example: it would be nice to have CS mini-collectives in Berlin between May and June. If we can publicize access to tools/mini collective data base to Berlin CS members , eventually a percentage of them might be interested in hosting ( or initiating ) CS mini-collectives.

Mini Collectives are cheaper ( or do not cost anything if participants act as guests and cover expenses according to agreements between their host and them ) and permit more focus on specific projects.
