How should the FAQ be organized?
Should it be split into certain groups, if so what are those groups?
- Suggested Layout:
New User:
Picture upload / profiles / passwords / (Well, we were all new users once, I'm sure you know!)
Member:
Safety / Tips / Help CS / Passwords (cos everyone gets it!) / misc general member stuff.
(include links to pages / groups etc)
Amb:
The amb FAQ needs updating - especially with the introduction of the 3-tier system.

- What about dividing the FAQ into "Questions about CouchSurfing Website" and "Questions about CouchSurfing Experience". Basically online and offline details. I also had ideas about branching the FAQ so that we could ask simple questions that would lead to big answers. Like, "Is your question about the website or a surfing/hosting experience" which if they chose the website option would lead to "Is your questions regarding searching, groups, messaging ... etc." --Emoriginal
- Good examples of Support/Help/FAQ pages http://www.google.com/support/
What topics do we want to cover in the FAQ/Help section?
- It would be great if we could move some of the CUQ answers to the FAQ - like the "uploading pics, the size, file type:jpeg" ....stuff like that. --Rach
- Writing a story on couchsurfing, who to contact? --Emoriginal
- "I want to delete some of my groups which I belong. How can I do that ?" --EmoriginalTalkCS 05:42, 9 December 2006 (EST)
How do we remain as personal as possible? ...
... while still asking the users to take responsibility to answer their own (obvious) questions.
Which areas in the website need links to the FAQ?
- Link to it from any page where users might have suggestions. Redirect them to the brainstorm group to submit suggestions. --EmoriginalTalkCS 16:12, 4 December 2006 (EST)
- Credit card area, we could write a whole seperate FAQ to answer those questions. --EmoriginalTalkCS 16:12, 4 December 2006 (EST)
- I would definitley recommend linking to it from
Where to split?
- Moved here from User talk:Bontour
Hi! I think it is better to keep things like How do I upload pictures?, which will probably stay very stable and small, inside another page. It makes it easier to maintain. Guaka 14:23, 14 August 2006 (EST)
We will get a long list very soon and than there is not enough space for all the text on one page anymore - how do we solve that problem?--Bontour 14:30, 14 August 2006 (EST)
- If it becomes too long, try to get some subdivisions of the list. I'm not an expert about FAQ though :) Something like What?, Organization, Profile, etc. But we can see that when it happens. It's still better to have one or a couple of pages than a whole lot of different questions, where each of them has its own page. Guaka 14:48, 14 August 2006 (EST)
OK, agreed :) --Bontour 16:50, 14 August 2006 (EST)
a new question
hi everybody, I would like to suggest a new question: Some profiles warn me about negative references. How does it work? I am not sure though if it really fits in the FAQ page. Maybe a sub-section or a frequently asked technical questions page would be better. Either way, detailed information on existing CS features would make it much easier to understand them and then suggest possible improvements. cheers -- Roland 15:22, 27 February 2007 (EST)
