"Marketing bloat"? Please elaborate. I don't understand the context or implications.
- I've replaced "bloat" by "language" midsch 10:32, 12 May 2007 (EDT)
- Ok, i'm still not sure what you mean. Here's the list:
"We don't believe in:
- Spreading marketing language
- Top-down management strategies
- Corporate or governmental ideas
You don't believe in "spreading marketing language"? Does that mean you don't think CouchSurfing should be marketing anything? This is almost as confusing as "marketing bloat"
"Top-down management strategies"
More good buzz words that sound evil, but what do you mean by it, exactly?
And what "corporate or gov't ideas" are you "dissenting" from?
It would be easier to address some of this if we had any idea what you were talking about.--RedCouchGuy 18:08, 13 May 2007 (EDT)
"Dissident Team" Definitions of "dissident":
- n. - One who disagrees
- adj. - disagreeing, especially with a majority
- n. - a person who dissents from some established policy
Just to be clear, you are a forming a "Disagreeing Team" to disagree with the majority as well as established policy of a *volunteer* organization that you don't *have* to volunteer with if you don't agree with the policies set forth or the majority that you are disagreeing with. Am I right or is your terminology just inaccurate?
Thanks for doing your part to help make CS a much more open, harmonious environment. We all appreciate your input and help in making the team stronger and bringing us all closer together. --RedCouchGuy 00:05, 11 May 2007 (EDT)
I'm not sure about the english (american?) meaning and connotations of "dissident", but in german it would fit somehow, even if I would search for another, better word. But linguistic studies won't make the problem disappear anyway. midsch 10:29, 12 May 2007 (EDT)
- I would be happy, if we don't use the therm "dissident". "Open" is good, but a bit overstressed ... what's about "CouchsurfingNetwork", an open, at least partly selforganizing structure with some fixed nodes (Casey, techteam, groups ...) midsch 11:28, 12 May 2007 (EDT)
- I still think it's good to have "CouchSurfing" in it. But waiting for more input is good. I spent my whole weekend for/with CS and must logoff now to get some rest; you may have read my announcement ;) midsch 14:19, 13 May 2007 (EDT)
