Talk:An Ideal CouchSurfer
From the CouchSurfing Wiki, an informal workspace which anyone can edit.
Thanks Amylin for creating this page!! I like the idea and the positiveness about it. So I don't feel so happy about 'criticising' here, but can I just introduce an instant thought I had about the page name?
I think calling it an 'Ideal' Couchsurfer has both pros and cons. The world 'Ideal' refers to what we should try to reach, to perfection and to giving out the best of ourselves and self-improving which is great. But it could be a drawback in my opinion since it might as well sound as an ideal with the meaning it also has of sth unrealistic (ethymologically ideal is the contrary of real) and difficult to fulfill for the 'average' person. How about calling it sth like 'a Great Couchsurfer' (or whatever other more appealing expression of that kind one would suggest)? Esp. since 'ideal' is also sth very subjective and what suits and pleases one doesn't necessarily for the other.
As for the points you raised, they make perfect sense in my opinion. I would add : people willing to go beyond everyday superficial relationships and talks and prejudices between nations and peoples and to deeply and fully chat and understand one another and this way grow more tolerance and understanding for other human beings as a whole and for everyone's mishaps and failures.
Keep up with your positive attitude!! We definitely need that :)) Cheers,
Steff
