Sharing Language Knowledge
The CouchSurfing Wiki, an informal workspace which anyone can edit.
In CouchSurfing there are many members who know more than one language, this means there is an opportunity for teaching and learning new languages. Example: Alice knows French and wants to learn Chinese, Andrea knows Chinese and wants to learn French. Could they meet via CouchSurfing and share their knowledge of languages?
This is a proposal for a new feature (connected with the CouchSurfing University). It is similar to the core reason of FriendsAbroad.com.
How could the feature work?
- a search interface when it is possible to find someone that knows the language we would like to learn or practice and would like to learn the language we know
- few simple technological tools for meeting and learning/teaching the new language
- some way to agree on a skype (or other voice instant messagging) session on a particular date and time
- the possibility to have an additional check box that says "Please correct" in the "create new message" screen and a text area in which it is possible to correct the previously sent message (this is the basic feature of FriendsAbroad.com)
- some tool to keep a collaborative list of words, sentences and a snapshot of your improvements.
