I look at São Paulo as New York City from Brazil. It's just like that. Business, Culture and Parties. You'll have a blast here.
Things to do in São Paulo
(These are based on things and places I took some people that came to São Paulo, and what I really enjoy)
Anytime:
Ibirapuera Park. I like to say that it's our Central Park. A huge park with museums, great lake and nature. A lot of nice people jogging, walking with their dogs or just relaxing.
Saturdays:
This is the day when the Benedito Calixto Square holds a Flea Market. A lot of antiques and art stuff. Around it there are some other stores, restaurants and bars. My suggestion is to go there around noon and go to Consulado Mineiro, a great restaurant, and get a reservation for a table. While you wait you can check things around the Market and then go back for a great meal.
Sundays:
You should go to Liberdade. It's our Chinatown, but on a Japanese neighbourhood. At the streets you can eat some Japanese specialties, or you can go to one of the several restaurants with All You Can Eat Sushi. It's delicious.
