Concept

This is a proposal to calculate a verification fee for each country/region adjusted to cost of living.

Objectives

To develop policies for handling money collected at CS meetings. To ensure we have:

  1. an equitable fee structure that is in line with Purchasing Power Parity.
  2. increase the percentage of verified members
  3. verification improves the safety "probability" and increases funding for CS
  4. a common standard to maintain objectivity.
  5. your ideas?

Key ideas

  1. Do we use the Big Mac index or some other established PPP index?
  2. Do we ask the Country Ambassadors to set a fair fee level?
  3. Do we set a fee for each country or region? Eg. North America, South Americas, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, South-east Asia, Oceania, etc.
  4. United Nations faces the need to pay its workers an amount of money that depends on where the worker is living. There is a Cost-of-living Division that calculates post adjustment indexes which express cost-of-living relativities between each duty station of the United Nations common system and New York. We could use these published indexes (see links below)
  5. your ideas?

Implementation

  1. Manual verification? ie. by Country/Global Ambassadors.
  2. Coding?
  3. your ideas?

Examples

  1. Verification in Europe. Mikky is doing manual verifications for 25 euros (US$33) in Western Europe. In Czech Republic it was discussed that 400kc (US$20) would be more equitable. Prague Feb07 meeting
