Travel information

Getting there

By Plane: There are a number of low-cost airlines that fly to Prague. Jet2.com, Easyjet.com, clickair.com and Skyeurope.com. Unfortunately Ryanair and Wizzair are not providing services at the time of writing. Main plane terminal is a bit off the centre (as usual) but before you take taxi - think twice - they´re famous for being rip-offs. Bus should do.

By Train: There are plenty of trains coming into and out of Prague all the time - local, regional, national and several international. The trains are slightly more expensive than the buses.

By Bus: Travelling by bus is relatively cheap especially using Studentagency.cz. Eurolines is a rip off and tickets can be 3 times the price! If you take bus direction inland Czech rep. you might experience a language barrier or you might miss your destination point as most of the bus stops do not have signs.

More information about how to get to Prague is in the Get in section of the Wikitravel.org. Also take a look at our How to get here section of the Czech Republic page.

Getting around

Prague has an excellent system of public transport with metro, trams and bus lines. Tram and metro are the easy way to travel around. The regular service stops at about midnight however the night-tram service keeps coming till the early hours (and then the regular service takes over again). So basically you do not have to worry about being deserted somewhere in Prague in the middle of the night. If you´re staying for a longer time consider buying discounted ticket for several rides, for one day, one week etc.

More information about how transportation in Prague is in the Get around section of the Wikitravel.org and in Exploring Prague section of the World Wikia.

Use the IDOS site to find schedules and a connection between any two stops of the Prague Integrated Transit system.

It is quite ok to ask for directions in Prague as quite a few ppl speak good English. You might as well consider finding a Tourist Information Centre to get some help and a handy map. There are also several large-scale maps in the city centre.
