Picton
The CouchSurfing Wiki, an informal workspace which anyone can edit.
Picton is the gateway to Te Wai Pounamu, New Zealand's South Island. It's far more attractive and wondrous than most think as they pass through from the ferry on to Kaikoura or Nelson.
Home to the marvellous Queen Charlotte Sound, part of the Marlborough Sounds, with an ample amount of desolate bays, stunning scenery and peaceful lifestyle. Stay a night or even longer and uncover what the tourist hub is all about.

Tips
As there is only one member so far in Picton, it is probably best to stay in one of the many backpackers, but hopefully this will change.
The alternative is to go to the Marlborough sounds and find a pleasant bay to camp in.
Next destinations, Nelson and Wellington have an active Couchsurfing pressence.
Ferry to Wellington
There are two ferry companies:
Bluebridge is usually the cheapest one, but the departure times are less frequent. Service on board is more basic. Interislander have prices which varies depending on how early you book your ticket. Prices can be $1 cheaper than Bluebridge if you book way ahead, but is usually $5 to $10 more.
Travelling to Nelson Take the scenic Queen Charlotte Drive which is a more winding road compared with going via Blenheim. It is also quicker.
