As was already stated on the CSC NZ 2006-2007 group, “We expect a high level of commitment from ezvery participant and we expect measurable resutls. Setting goals and working towards them.”

Having a proper organizational structure is definitely an important part of organising a CSC but is worth nothing if on does not define accurate, realistic objectives and the proper tools to check and verify that those get completed. It seems to us that it is probably too early to set those for the EU CSC since we still do not know what will/will not be achieved in New Zealand. Still at present we can remind everyone of the goals listed for the New Zealand Collective that could also apply to the European Collectives, i.e.:

  • transparency within the organisation ;
  • Accountability ;
  • Developping and testing the organizational structure ;
  • Documenting the Collective.

Check out the CSC New Zealand 2006-2007 group for more details.

It seems to us that usage of CS being wide-spread in Europe there might be little use to try increase it for now, so we would rather set us the following goal :

  • Finding ways to increase usage of CS in other parts of the world

Some more goals we also wish to work on:

  • Increase CS usage in middle-sized or smaller cities (e.g. Toulouse, Brussels, etc.) as it still is more about European metropoles
  • Integrate better European members living ‘off-the-beaten-track’, in remote areas (as an example we had a biking WE in Blois co-organised with a local member and to which other French, non-Parisian members attended) ;
  • Updating the ‘outside’ CS community at least once a week about all that is going on, who’s doing what, etc. so people can keep track of what’s going on and react accordingly : give feedback, make suggestions, etc.
  • Since we actually lack a tool to gether such feedback and comments from people that cannot attend… set one! A blog like we had in Eisenstadt is messy and unefficient so… what else? Something like a wiki? How to make sure people know about it and actually get grab of it and use it?
  • Also get feedback from CSC attendants, all along and after the CSC, e.g. write and distribute and put online feedback forms, eventually hold a workgroup on the subject? Make sure we properly analyse what worked or not and most importantly WHY and what other options/solutions we have.
  • Start defining the next EU CSC – summer 2008 ; list people that wish to be in charge, potential locations, start recruiting and if possible train people, set a work group that will work on the subject through the year, etc.csgroup:4065
