Our favourite day trips and adventures in and around Brisbane
The CouchSurfing Wiki, an informal workspace which anyone can edit.
This page is all about our favourite things to do in and around Brisbane - there is lots.
Inner city areas
Most of these can be done by bus and by foot
- - Spring Hill Baths
- - The Windmill
- - Story Bridge
You could spend a day wandering around Southbank, go for a swim at the human-built beach if its hot. Nearby are the Queensland Art Gallery, Gallery of Modern Art and the beautiful new State Library and up the other end the Martime Museum. If you walk up the Goodwill Bridge (a pedestrian bridge), you can look at the old Navy ship in the dry dock. Kangaroo Point cliffs are just near here too - if you fancy a climb or a boulder. If you were to perchance walk all the way across the Goodwill Bridge, you'd come out at QUT and the Botanical Gardens City Botanic Gardens, a nice place to have a quiet rest on the grass or talk to some trees.
- - The Shrine of Remembrance
- - New Farm Park and the Powerhouse
- - Roma Street Parklands
- - Captain Bourke Park
- -
If you are a Market person the see the Markets section here.
Annual Events in Inner city areas
- - Valley Fiesta (July, in the Valley)
- - Caxton Street Seafood Festival (Paddington)
- - Paniyiri (May, in West End)
- - Riverfestival (August (?), all around the place)
- - The Ekka (August, in the Valley)
- - Fete de la Musique
Just a bit further out areas
Car most likely required - you can get public transport to these places but they are outside the city centre
Heaps further out areas
Vehicle pretty much required
