Ontario is a province of Canada. Its capital is Toronto and it also contains the nation's Capital Ottawa. There are large and active CS communties in most of the urban areas.
Couchsurfing Events in Ontario
Toronto and Ottawa have fairly regularely scheduled events. Other events exist in smaller cities (such as Kitchener-Waterloo Guelph, and London) but they are often advertised on the Group page as opposed to the events page.
Transportation Tips
Transport is not an acute problem as it is in some of the other provinces. Southwestern and Central Ontario is well served by numerous buss and train routes, and there are low budget airlines operating between various cities. Numerous airports in Ontario serve as bases for charter airlines heading to southern desitnations. Public transporation options are plentiful in most cities. Niagara Falls is fairly easily reached by tranportation options, as is Algonquin Park (which may also be included on tours from hostels in Ottawa and Toronto.)
Couchsurfing Tips
Finding a place to stay is not difficult in Ontario. As of late 2009, Toronto was ranked #14 in the world for total number of members by cities and Ottawa was #86. Keep in mind as with regular searches to use the function to expand the search based on distance if you have your own transportation. Also looking past the first few pages of the searches in larger cities may turn up some hosts that are otherwise overlooked. Ontario also has a strong contingent of Rural CouchSurfing.
