Northern Travel
Those who have made it to the Canadian North have not done so by accident. The cities in this area are generally of secondary or tertiary interest to the traveler (if of any interest). Instead what are being sought after are the vast expanses of wilderness or points of Arctic history. The cities act as hubs for the journeys to the hinterlands, but this does not mean the hosts are any less likely to host. They themselves have likely been drawn to the north for the same reasons and are willing participants in the celebration of what the Arctic region has to offer. That having been said, the ability to obtain goods in the north is much more difficult and common goods available in southern Canada, will often have inflated prices. As such northerners may appreciate a gift left by guests much more so than others in the country.
The north is also an area of extreme challenges. The transportation in some areas is non-existent and the climate can be deadly. At the traveler’s access though are some of the most amazing national parks in the world and a group of people for whom hospitality is a given.
