Org Structure
It's not working! All the Org Groups.
- Most Groups are moderated and just tell people "You can not join this group because it is moderated." which is simply avery effective contributor repellent.
- It's mostly about what people think that should be happening while in fact nothing is going on.
- Right now the most crowded groups are the Open Groups, the NZC Group with 112 members and the Wiki Group with 23 members.
To do:
- There is another tree under Participate, which doesn't work because noone checks it?
- Groups should be Open.
MVC
MVC, seperate Model, View, Controller (in code, non techies nevermind... this is something that will help the coders eventually to fix bugs faster)
Model: model/ user.php -> class user, methods for doing stuff with users
Controller: chunks of code that are run before the page is shown
View: view/, mostly HTML, variable substitutions, some foreaches

- We need to focus on values and taste, less on people and opinions.
Joe: "We shouldn't base decisions on people and opinions."
- Breakfast brainstorm with Steve: (repeating of ideas discussed in Eisenstadt with the addition of local volunteer coordinators)
- We should have a local coordinator in each city/area. To organize regular meetings, create a strong community, organize workshops…. He would be able to gather people, put them in relation with the local community and achieve local useful projects.
- Define the mission more clearly so that we get more financing (!!!)
- If we focus on ideas and philosophical development, those ideas will carry on longer and will be easier to spread than people and experiences.
For every 20th edit on the wiki, it will say: "get a life" and contact someone nearby to get you away from the laptop!
- Kasper: "what's important is to do it, so: edit!"
Joe: "providing that we have such a transparent record of what's happening here I feel like I didn't need to come" :) [sic!]
With the DSL modem arriving today the New Zealand Collective really just started now. Joe Edelman also arrived today. We did a little video and Leo set up a beautiful gallery. We brainstormed a lot, some of it directly on the Wiki, and there are two new posts on the Collective Blog.
