This one of the most beautiful hill station of India located in Rajasthan.It is easily accessible by Road and train from all imprtant cities of Rajasthan.
The following are important locations in Mount Abu
- Nakki Lake
Mythologically this lake was digged by deities by nails and hence called Nakki.Nakh is nail in Hindi.One of the best thing to do in Mt.Abu is to take round of this lake by a bicycle.Peddle boats are also available.In the center is a jet fountain and boating in evening with some showers of fountains really beats the heat.
- Delwara Jain Temple
These temples are one of the finest example of architect of Jain tempels in India.Made of white marble and fine carving each dome and each pillar is an example of beauty and spirituality.
- Toad Rock
Right above a Nakki lake lake on a hill this beautiful natural rock looks like a frog ready to jump in the Nakki lake.The trekking up to rock is interesting and view of lake from top is panoramic.If you are a mountaineer you can climb on the toad rock from the back.
- Adhar Devi Temple
This is the temple of Goddess Durga in a cave on a hill with few hundred steps to climb.Adhar means in mid air.Once this statute was in mid air and with the increase of sins on earth it is descending and when it touches ground there will be catastrophe.
- Sunset Point
Since the height of Mt.Abu is only 1220 meters some villages are visible from sunset point.The view is relaxing.Just reach in time to choose proper place to watch the view.
- Honeymoon Point
Also known as Anadra Point because village Anadra at plains is visible from here.Due to small rocks and bushes it provides an opportunity to newly weds to spend some romantic moments in seclusion.
- Brahma Kumaris Ishlvariya Vishwa Vidyalaya
Clad in white dresses the man and woman known as Brahmkumar and Brahmkumari are the followers and disciple of this sect of Hinduism.Mount Abu is Head Quarter of this foundation.The sect is based on teachings of Krishna to Arjun in Srimad Bhagwat.The museum has many interesting paintings explaining philosophy of this foundation.
- Gaumukh
Means a cow's face.In the deep forests is located a marble cow face set in the rock from where a stream of water is flowing round the year.Though in summer it is very thin stream.This had been the meditation place for many important sages.
- Travor's Tank
The lake made by Mr.Travor is a fine example of appreciating nature's beauty.The tank has crocodile in it.
- Guru Shikhar
It is the highest peak of Aravali range of hills.It has temple of Dattatreya.The view of valley from here is breathtaking.
- Achalgarh
About 8 Km. from Mount Abu is a fort and jain temple which provides beautiful view.The four tonnes Nandi the mount for Shiva,made of five metals is also a must visit.
Besides these Rehabilitation center for blinds,Swami Vivekananad Institute of mountaineering,Museum of Art and Culture,Chacha museum,Indian Institute of Astrophysics(near Gurushikhar) are also worth visiting.
