Inner city areas
Fortitude Valley
Chinatown cheap and cheerful! Cherekoff Bakery on Wickham St, and which is Chinese, does great custard tarts and wife cakes and BBQ pork buns.
New Farm
West End
This area has a big Greek and Vietnamese population, which is reflected in its (generally cheap and excellent quality) restaurants. Hardgrave rd in particular has great Vietnamese (try Quan Thanh's) and Lefkas gives good Greek. Also some good cafe's type places - try the Gunshop on Mollison St, near Coles, Lock n Load on Boundary St if you are after a hair of the dog breakfast on the weekend, and UGees (Urban Grind) on Boundary St for magnificent coffee and very friendly locals.
Just a bit further out areas
Albion
Albion has a great restaurant area along Sandgate Road. Thai Ways in particular has been proving itself for decades and still has the best Thai in Brissy in my opinion. The area also has one of the only Turkish restaurants in Brissy, Efes One, as well as Indian, Italian, Mexican and the Albion Hotel.
Bulimba
Bulimba is a 20 minute ferry ride from riverside and there is a diverse mix of restaurants along Oxford St...
