Free and Open Couchcity Hamburg
The CouchSurfing Wiki, an informal workspace which anyone can edit.
At the 6th regional meeting in Hamburg at May 31th (20+ people) discussed about the OpenCS-campaigns. In a nice and friendly atmosphere we collected information, raised concerns and discussed our thoughts about the future of Couchsurfing and hospitality exchanges in general. To define the idea of "Free and Open Couchcity Hamburg" we agreed on setting up this wikipage.
The meeting was a local CS-meeting, but some members are also member of different other networks and we had guest from places like Washington, DC and Hongkong. We like to discuss here the (more or less) local point of view, but feel free become part of it.

What's to do
Jolly Roger
The CS communtiy of Free and Open Couchcity Hamburg uses the Jolly Roger as a symbol. The Jolly Roger has a big tradion in Hamburg. Originally it comes from the pirates` flags. During the 80s a couple of houses in St. Pauli (a quarter of Hamburg) were squatted and the squatters put out the Jolly Roger flag. Later they took it to the stadium of the local soccer team. Today the Jolly Roger is a symbol for a free and liberal St. Pauli with a big alternative scene and also the symbol of the local soccer team. So at some weekends you will see it all over St. Pauli.
Some of the supporters of Free and Open Couchcity Hamburg raised the Jolly Roger as their main photo in their CS profils. Also people from all over the world joined in raising the Jolly Roger to show that they are supporting open couchsurfing.
Local support for the campaigns
- Bring them to the attention of other people
- Discuss it in real life

- Write in the CouchSurfing groups about them and add links to OpenCS

No deep discussion yet, mostly because it is obvious to use an open licence. We do not want to have CS-only information if i. e. someone from HC needs it as well.
