Language
Most Danes understand one or more of English, German, Swedish and Norwegian in addition to Danish.
English is a mandatory subject in schools, German is strongly encouraged and most people decide to learn it.
Norwegian and Swedish are similar enough to Danish to be mostly understood.
- The Danish Phrasebook from Wikitravel provides Danish basics (grammar, pronounciation, important words/phrases)
If you need to translate something into danish use Gramtrans
Places
Denmark has recently been divided into 5 regions Copenhagen Capital Region, Zealand Region, South Denmark, Central Jutland and Northern Jutland. For ease of use these regions are going to be used when the volunteers have finished fixing the danish locations. There are only two differences, South Denmark will be divided into South Jutland and Funen island and Bornholm will be a region seperate from the Copenhagen Capital Region. For more information see wikipedia
The main cities are
- Copenhagen - Meetings every 8th day see meeting page
- Odense
- Roskilde
- Århus
- Aalborg
Unfortunately no other cities have regular meetings yet, but check the meeting page or make a meeting yourself if you're coming to town, you might be surprised how many people show up!

Ride sharing:
These danish car-pool websites allows drivers to advertise their rides (mostly within Denmark but also to and from Denmark) similarly riders can advertise their intentions to go somewhere, allowing drivers to search for potential riders. Normally a fee is negotiated beforehand or even advertised on the sites. It's usually cheaper (~half price) compared to bus or train. A trip from Copenhagen to Århus is normally around 150 DKK
Long distance bus:
- Find routes from different companies at fjernbusser.dk.
- X-Bus

Airplane:
- Check prices for going between different parts of the country by plane if you need to go far, it might be cheaper than the train.
