A brief purpose of groups
Groups are for meeting and talking to other members of Couchsurfing that parallel your interest in geography, artistic persuaion, skill set, or alike. It's also useful to find a place to stay without asking everyone individually.
CS Group layout
These are the guidelines for our current group layout. The purpose of these guidelines are to help keep the groups organized which in turn helps create a more intuitive method to find like minded people.
Places
organized in the following hierarchy
- Region (Southeast Asia, North America, ...)
- nation state (India, China, German, Canada, etc...)
- City (Seoul, Paris, Mexico city, etc...)
- nation state (India, China, German, Canada, etc...)
We use wikipedia as the arbiter of the locations.
Before you create a group of a place, Search the existing groups for a similar city and place.

How to create a group
- Log in to Couchsurfing.com
- Search for a group similarly named, if it's a place, look under your region, nation state, followed by the approriate cities.
- If it doesn't exist then go to Create a new group
- Be as informative as possible with the fields below and submit your information
- Wait for an ambassador in your region to approve the item.
