Craiova is the capital of Dolj county, in the south-western part of Romania. It is situated on the left side of Jiu river, at 44.2 lat N and 23.5 long E (44°2' / 23°5'). The altitude is between 75 and 116 meters.

Touristic attractions
- It is the 3rd biggest natural park in Europe.
- The park was arranged at the initiative of Nicolae Romanescu (the mayor of Craiova in those times), under the supervision of French architect Émile Rendont.
- In 1900, the plans for the park won the gold medal at the Paris World Fair.
- Construction of the park began in 1901 and was completed two years later. The park was opened on 29th September 1903.

- It is housed in the Jean Mihail Palace since 1954. The palace was built between 1899 and 1907, following the plans of the French architect Paul Gotereau.
- The Museum is organized in three sections: The European Art Gallery, The Romanian Art Gallery, The Brancusi room.
- It is the first theater from Eastern Europe that became a member of the European Theatre Convention
- Băniei House / Museum of Ethnography and Folk Art
- It is the oldest non-religious building that exists in Craiova, dating from 1699.
- Oltenia Museum - It is divided in 3 sections: ethnography, history and natural science.
- The collection is based on donations.
- Botanical Garden - The garden was laid out by the botanist Alexandru Buia.
- The main purpose of the garden was to facilitate the students' activities and research for the academic staff of the Agriculture and Horticulture Faculties of the University of Craiova.
- The Botanical Garden has 6 areas: plant systematics, floral provinces of the globe, cultivated plants, seed beds, phyto-geography of the Oltenia region, and a greenhouse.

- You have free access to the internet in shops from different providers, that let you test their internet connections. You can find them:
- in Mercur Mall, at the ground floor.
- in the Romtelecom building, on Unirii street (opposite to the Postal Office nr. 1). It takes about 5 minutes to get there from Mihai Viteazu Square (the city center).
