Accessibility

  • Is there a way to use it without using Flash? I.e. IRC?
    • We could go for an Ajax Chat. Which one shall we choose among the ones released as Free Software? See AJAX powered chat applications reviewed. Possibilities: 1, 2, .... Be aware that Ajax Chats can place a big load on server if not well designed: test it before deploying on the real site.

Customization

The chat program has been created with the ability to change fonts, background, and colors. Clicking the 'Options' button in the chat window will allow you to select various pre-designed themes, as well as individually change various visual styles.

Here are a couple common questions:

  • How can you get rid of the colours?
    • You can check the option to use your text color for all messages.
  • How to turn off the sounds?
    • You can mute the sounds from the Options dialog.

Problems

There have been many software glitches with the chat system. It's not perfect, but we are constantly working to clear up problems, as well as looking at other options. We're sorry about any problems, but are working on making everything run smoothly. Please be patient and remember that this is a non-profit organization with members contributing their free time to build it!

If you find a problem with the chat system, please check if it's reported, and if not, then report the bug in the bug group.
