What is a Collective?
CouchSurfing Collectives are held in order to bring volunteers together to improve the CouchSurfing website and grow our community. The Collective environment is creative, dynamic, and lots of fun. But the volunteers are not invited to Collectives for a vacation. They are expected to work hard and apply their talents to improving the CouchSurfing experience for everyone. The Collective in New Zealand was just one of several past Collectives, and future Collectivesare being planned.
What was the New Zealand Collective?
The New Zealand Collective was located in Nelson, New Zealand, and lasted from November, 2006 to April, 2007. We had many general and specific Goals for the New Zealand Collective. These goals were set by feedback from the entire CouchSurfing community and the creative ideas of NZC participants. Some of the biggest goals included improving the website itself by fixing bugs, increasing stability and adding new features, as well as improving the CouchSurfing community by working toward financial stability, making the organization more democratic and transparent, recruiting and organizing volunteers and increasing awareness of CouchSurfing around the globe.
