Cineplex
There are 4 cineplex cinemas in Brisbane, each with it's own characteristic, the one common feature is they are cheap and cash only venue, oh and broken choch tops are usually found for a $1.50..! The chain has the 2 largest screens in Brisbane, the iMax at Southbank (although it doesn't screen iMax film anymore) and Cinema 1 at Hawthorne whoch is the largeat cinema screen in Brisbane...
Balmoral/Hawthorne
Balmoral has beautiful architecture with awesome columns and an old school feel, it is located on Oxford Street in Bulimba (go figure) well worth a visit to just for the serentity...
Hawthorne is the best cinema is brisbane, cinema 1 has the largest screen in brisbane (outside of the iMax at Southbank Cineplex) and meant i still haven't bought a tv after 30 months of living in brisbane...

Southbank
Southbank is a more typical multiplex cinema, although new screenings are shown on the iMax screen so it is worth a visit...
There is limited free parking around Southbank and at the time of writing they do cheap parking at the Parklands carpark... You are limited to four hours so if it is a long film and you want to eat public transport may be a better option...
Victoria Point
Has the largest screen in Queensland as Vicotria Point is technically in Cleveland and not Brisbane... As it is only a 30 minute drive I have included it in the Brisbane section...
