Introduction to Botswana

Bostwana is situated between Namibia to the West and Zimbabwe to the West and just above South Africa. Its Capital, Gaborone (pronounced "Habaronay"), is located just inside the country onthe border with South Africa.

The country has no rivers that run into it and out of it. For this reason water is very precious and the curency "Pula" means Rain.

People of Botswana are called Batswana.

Botswanas main source of income is from the sale of Diamonds from its many large deposits. It is also a major destination for Safari tourism.

Gaborone itself is a bustling modern city (maybe not by Western Europe standards) with shopping centres, restaurants and bars.
