Bonn is easily accessible by plane, with the Airport Cologne/Bonn being the most important airport for Germanwings. It has a lot of european flights coming in, not only by germanwings, but by Lufthansa, hlx.com and several other airlines as well. 2006 the first transatlantic connection to New York has been established. Other close and usefull airports: Düsseldorf (1 hour by train, further cheap airlines eg. AerLingus), Frankfurt am Main (1-1.5 hours by train, major hub for international flights), "Frankfurt Hahn" (not really near Frankfurt, harder to get to but cheap airlines like RyanAir, bus from Köln or Koblenz)
The train station lies on the north-south-connection between Frankfurt and Köln has fast access with the ICE to many other german cities. Fast connections via Köln to Belgium and Paris (Thalys) as well as to Amsterdam.
There are also several well functioning German websites to share a ride by car. Just google "Mitfahrgelegenheit" or "Mitfahrzentrale" and you will find several.
