Below here was someone else's epistle which I didnot wish to disturb
--Vijaymohan 06:40, 2 February 2007 (EST)
Guys, We have just returned from a 10 day New Year vacation -driving 1700 kms - Bangalore to Goa. We essentially covered entire coastal Karnataka. This is my first attempt to write a travel blog covering everything that you need to know to do a trip like ours. This trip was organized by me along with another friend of mine Sujesh.
Total Kms driven: 1700 kms
Totl number of "fun"atics= 4 - Ravi, Darshan, Sujesh, Vivek
Car Driven= Santro Xing-AC Car
Objective: Have fun without any elaborate planning
Focus of the trip:
We will not spend more than Rs.1000 per day inclusive of food, car fuel, accomodation. We want to be safe on the road so decided to drive only during day time. We will not compromise on comfortable bed and clean toilets We will not drive more than 3 hours on any day. We did some bookings in odd places wherein we knew we would end up in night. Travel Light
We were four different indivuals with our own personality disorders and quirks and we had to survive 10 days together without missing any fun.
We knew it was a beach holiday and I along with Darshan left no stone unturned to do our "beach" shopping. In fact, since I knew I will be in speedos, I did a serious work-out before the skin exposure.
The trip started on Dec 24 early morning which was a morning after a late night Friday night- Yawn! But who cares, we were ecstatic about the whole adventure. Like every Indian, we stopped at a nearby temple to do our puja and blessed ourselves for a safe trip. Famished that we were, we stopped at....for breakfast. Since it was a Jain pilgrimage, food as almost free- we had tea, meetha boondiya, bhujiya and poha( Rs.40 for all of us !!).
Then the journey began for all of us- time to drive and reach our first destination Kundapore via Sakleshpur. We decided to take that route since we wanted to be cover entire coastal Karnataka except Mangalore which is a big city. We could drive at a speed of 120 kms, however considering Indian adventure, cows, dogs, old man crossing highways are normal on India roads. We were happy if we could keep at 80-100 kms. Though I had a tendency to touch 140 kms which was tough considering I was driving Santro.
Destination One :
Amgol Resort-
